Standard Panel Van Values

I am thinking of doing a Sandman replica and have a mate with HZ V8 ute with a Premier front end that has a far amount of rust but mechanically not bad that will part with it for $1500. I am hoping to grab the running gear out of the ute to use in a 6 cylinder van. What sort of money would you pay for a HQ-WB panel van with a 6 cylinder engine in assuming the that body is in good to fair condition and the mechanicals average to poor?

WB in good nick, maybe $4,000-$5,000. HQ-HZ around $6,000-$7,000. Makes little difference if it is a 6cyl or V8, as the money is in quality body and panels. You'll obvioulsy pick up bargains from time to time too, but go looking inland away from the coast.

I definitely agree with HK. You want to look in the country. The best buys are in the country. Who knows, you may even get lucky and stumble across an original Sandman with the books. He or she may not even know the market value and sell it to you for an absolute steal.

Not necessarily cheaper inland, but better bodies, often at the expense of cracked chassis though!

Yes defo no rust and better bodies (as everything inland :lol that is how we got the red van but not for a steal, but a good price, I will keep an eye out for you I also have spys out who have access to old farm sheds west of here....(here being Parkes)
