    ha ha started collecting bits...

picked up this for $19 from ebay close to home. Has the taillight section for TwoTees HZ Sandman and the powersteering box and other bits for me. Getting the panelbeater to draw sections over it and Ill cut it up for rust repair.

found this old Kingswood on a friends farm with a good cowl section to fix the vans rusty bit....

    ~WOW~

What an awesome HQ. I was originally looking for a HQ but stumbled upon a one owner genuine HJ Sandman at a steal and couldn't let it go. Great find! I am really looking forward to seeing the stages of this build. Please keep us posted.

Lower quarters are no good for your van as HJ-HZ wagon and sedan are different quarters to all HQ and HJ-HZ van, ute, coupe and statesman

Thanks Byron, I was going to ask the panel beater but the driver side isnt much good anyway. Oh well that's the fun huh! Searching for the right bits. I dug around a bit and need a section of the sill as well. Wont know until I bare metal the shell anyway. :-)

They would be if you are planning on putting a wagon full rear bar on though..

Still looks stupid and doesn't align right, the whole quarter shape is different, not just the bottom. Surely no-one would butcher a Sandman nowadays by using HJ sedan/wagon rear quarters and a wagon rear bar?

Dont worry Byron.. all HQ as much as I can for me. As I said I grabbed the HZ shell for the powersteering box as mine is worn and a bit sticky. TwoTees, a mate on here, has a HZ XX7 van that needs the bit inside the taillight. It had a small hit in that section which he beated out but it distroyed the inner section. I was just going to cut the shell up and keep bits for some sections. I found a small bit of rust in the drivers sill to fix. I have found a good front cowl on a HQ kingswood that Ill unpick to replace mine.

Thanks for your advice and pointing me in right direction.
