its all in the details..
HQ
HJ
HX
HZ
WB
If it is a Sandman the MODEL is easy, it is a HOLDEN (or Belmont if it is a modified HQ). You couldn't get a Kingswood Sandman van. So MODEL is M70 (or in HQ: 0170 or 0270).
The Question you want is what SERIES is it?
If it is factory original or factory authetic then it is obviously HX or HZ by the tail-light surrounds and mirrors. Dead giveaway is the lack of an RTS badge on the tailgate, and I can't quite see a chin spoiler on it. It does appear to have a Kingswood front bar on it so it isn't dead stock original. So all that adds up to is a HX with Kingswood front bar.
Yup, it was that obvious. I've seen HQ-HZ repaired using WB quarters before though!
I did actually get the question right - ie what MODEL is it! And I did qualify with "if it is original". Obviously far from original!
Great poll twotees . It's would have been interesting to see how many people know their Sandamans . Shame it was spoiled with only a few votes .Least my vote counted
all the points quoted point to it being HX but we went with it being HZ only because of the colour in the pic looks more like jasmine yellow than absinth yellow....
the side repeater lights, we hadn't noticed they were not on other vans either learn something knew each day.....![]()
HZ Jasmine Yellow Windowless Sandman, now being driven everywhere and is finished!
HZ Madeira Red Windowless sandman now Sold to Bigrob
HX Mandarin Red Sandman Ute finished, and club registered
1979 HZ malachite windowless van with 308 5spd, all chromed up and shiny finished and named "The Player"
Married to RodneyHZ253
I went the same as Jennie. HZ. Thought the colour was Jasmine yellow.
Although could have been HX as the mirrors look black.
Did not check the blinkers :(
