Common words are not allowed in the search criteria - the reason is it would break the database if someone did a search for words like "there, and, here" also there is a minimum of 4 letters, because searching for "if, a, or." is pointless.

When using a search use adjectives or nouns like - "cowl, trim code, armrest, ozbox"
The more words you type in the field will narrow down your search results.

Ideally it is up to the original poster to spell correctly and be clear in what they are describing so others in the future can find relevant posts.

Also when you post a new thread at the bottom of the screen you will see a box called 'Tags'. Please fill it in with single words describing your post. If your post is about steering columns, type Steering columns. Or if it's about HX Decals then type that in, if you want.

Here is a tip for people wanting to search for smaller text strings.

eg. I tried to search "63v" for posts about trim.

My sandman returns "The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: "

So if you open a new tab and go to google.com.au and enter...

    63v site:mysandman.com.au

    you will get 55 results.

Just to get the idea juices flowing, would you like to have more articles? Maybe a listing of restoration and parts suppliers? Would you like to be able to customize your own forum colours instead of the orange, do you want to choose your own colour layout?

Have you seen stuff on other websites or forums that you think we could do better here.

Should we have an online trading store or anything else that is useful and also a bit of fun. We have a great core of people here, and I would love to see many many more being regular members.

Once we get some ideas, I'll have a look over them and see what I can do.
I would really find a database of suppliers really helpful as I am new to the restoration business. I did start up a spreadsheet of bits and pieces but it is hard to know what is value, etc from websites. Then a rating system would be helpful for each supplier as this would weed out the opportunists and poor quality suppliers and less likley to be ripped off or spend too much by being ingnorant to the fact. Quality suppliers would never need to worry as their reuptation would speak for itself anyway. It would also encourage manufacturers to improve quality as I see many comments on this forum about quality issues and their sales would drop if they have adverse comments as true restorers will always gravitate to the best for their car.

I also see many members saying I've got this or that available, maybe again a central register could be valuable, putting it out there what is lying around unused and of value to other restorers.

Then to really put it on the map only make this information available to regisstered members and for a small fee to cover development costs etc. I personally would be more than happy to pay for a quality service that helps speed up the restoration process.

I'm on another website as a member, has the same layout as this. I know NOTHING about web pages etc, but apparently there is some cash involved to keep it afloat. On this other site, they ask if you'd like to donate a small ammount of money to keep the fees in check. It's not compulsary, but you get your name in bright green (like Barbados ) and you're listed as a donor member. It makes you feel a little better knowing that you're giving something to the site that is giving so much back.

Like I said, I don't know if this is costing anything, or the apps you guys have suggested cost..? But if it does, maybe we can give a little to ensure the site remains financial instead of relying on one person to look after it all..? This is coming from way out there, cause I don't know the figures. Also, if there is some cash flow coming in, It could go towards some advertising etc. :Chin:

    section for sundowners and drifters

having enough sandmans i have purchased a drifter and sundowner to restore, finding info on these is hard and unreliable at best. a section relating to these would be helpful and interesting and probably not as involved as they had a lot less colours and trims, also id is not as involved as they have specific codes like the xx7 on the sandman
