I am after a 253 with date code of C6 or D6.
QR I assume? ie not HR?
I turfed heaps of these a few years ago. One of them was a late B6. STD bore, STD crank, no lip. Bugger, you could of had it for free. The reason I remember it was because it was 29B6, and was only one of two possible 29B HJ-HZ style 253 dates possible. The other was a very late HZ engine with 29B0. These were the only 2 x leap years whilst the type II red 253 was being produced.
I'm going to do a little hijack thread since I'm in the same state and need a 253 of a similar date to blocker.
My van is a 09/76 however, so would need an F6 if I've done my sums right.
Blocker, 5 weeks isn't really on the mark, but it isn't unusual. It just depends upon many factors. It isn't so much the cast date you are looking for, but the engine number. The cast date can vary by 5 weeks between consecutive engine numbers.
