Thumbs down Brisbane Flood Pics 2011

G'day all, Not sure if this worked, may need Blockers help as I don't do computers. I used his you-tube vid tuition that semed to go ok but who knows where the pics will end up.

They are of the motorcycle shops I work at, we have the Harley dealership and the BMW one across the road. I have just got home now after finally being evacuated as we've spent the last two days/nights moving stock and motorbikes. It's at Newstead on the northern fringe of the Brisbane CBD and sits about 400m from the Brisbane river and backs directly onto Breakfast Creek .

In the 29 years I have worked there I have never seen the water come up this much and this fast. We'll go under this afternoon about 3pm (high tide) but by how much I'm not sure. Tomorrow 4am will be worse and again in the arvo. We've taken most of our low lying stock and all bikes out of the place to our other warehouse by loading it into our trucks and everything else we could get our hands on ... even my trusty Sandman came to the rescue which I made sure I kept it high and dry. (it's salt water yuk!)

As with most people in the flood affected areas around our country it will be a long, slow, smelly clean up with hopefully tales of triumph and not tragedy.

If the pics don't work let me know and give me a few pointers as I know you say it's easy but I really, really am that dumb when it comes to computers. No really, Iam. : )

See ya on the road ... Burger

Damn! ... I cant see the pics so I guess you can't either ... somehow I managed to get some into my album (the red HZ) if you want to take a look there until I can get it sorted. ta Bgr

I have been watching the Live broadcast most of the day as it is nearly too hot to go outside today....it is a very scary scene, and I hope your insurance covers all your costs...is your home okay? What a lot of work to get all your stock out...good luck with it all, and if you need to come south for a holiday after all this hassle, feel free to stay...we in NSW all feel for you QLDrs....this time last year we were in the griip of a drought, and all dams were dry and what a turnaround now....:Hair:

Thanks Blocker, that's one thing I've found on this great forum the short time I've been here, everyone wants to help each other.

    Hi Jennie,

My home is ok at the mo, I live 20ks north of the city in Pine Rivers, the main prob we face is getting cut off and not being able to get from A to B as there's heaps of creeks/rivers in the Brisbane & surrounding suburbs. The the end of my street floods as it goes over a creek which runs off the North Pine River however we're about 2m higher than where it is and aren't 'normally' affected.

The boss' insurance will cover the shop loses when the time comes, I just hope my collection of early parts books with all my hand written notes will be safe stashed high in the upper mezzanine floor.
Thanks for the visit invite, when I'm in the area again will def organise to stop for a chat & to checkout your yellow van resto I've been following on here. Great Job, hats off to you, Rodney and your helpy helpers, it looks vantastic.

Def a turnaround, mother nature is a very strange lady ... a few years ago the council/government up here were giving us free water tanks so we could store rainwater as most of our surrounding dams were at dangerously low levels, now they're about to burst!

    cheers Tony
