Ok, so the bonnet is ready to go back on now.
I have some new hinges coming from oz (thanks mate)
So when they arrive I will be able to test out my zinc plating kit.
My ultra sonic cleaner isn't working as well as i expected. I think that this is because the plastic container that the ultrasonic transducer is attached to is insulating the "noise" too much.

Ill post up a pic once i have the two working nicely.

Another Question:

Has anyone ever had their front breaks rebuilt? I have PBR type, and am looking to freshen them up aesthetically as well as mechanically. So I was thinking new rubbers and sandblasting the caliper bodies..

Any suggestions or recommendations welcome.

Take them to a brake place. They will probably sleeve the cylinders for you and I think generally they bead blast callipers(what I have read elsewhere).

with the ultrasonic you want to use a metal container. plastic is probably one of the worst to use because it absorbs the vibrations.. metal wont

Just changed over to a smaller metal container... Not much improvement. really disappointing at the moment. Ill try with different solutions in there to see if that changes much..

youtube it.. some people use a vibration sander.. not sure how to hook it up with you transducer.. i know people use crystal vases with the ultrasonic transducers

I recently rebuilt the callipers on my cruiser. You should be able to buy a seal kit. Its not too hard. I used compressed air to get the pistons out, polish them with 1200 wet+dry, clean everything and put them together with the supplied lube. They work great.

I cleaned the outside up with a wire wheel and painted them with a heat proof paint, a cast iron colour, so they didn't go rusty.

I have always had good a run from Power Brakes for parts/kits/sleeving or complete exchange units. They have been around a long time - used to be in Norwood but are now on North East Rd Giles Plains.

They will re-sleeve with stainless so you dont have issues in the future. They may already have been done of course.

I bought one of those ultrasonic cleaners from Jaycar for cleaning speedo part.... bloody useless and went back to cleaning by hand with petrol and a toothbrush.

Mook, I don't know how close you want to replicate a HJ Sandman.... HJ didn't have the blackouts around the door window frame and you also need to black out the bottom front of the guards and across the valance (bottom of nosecone)... I assume the beaver panel is blacked out?

I prefer the look of the blacked out door window frame.....

Goint to look great when it's finished...
