In theory the early Rares made GTS fascia's were not repro..... GMH simply had a change of supplier.... I believe Rares got hold of the original HZ GTS fascia mould and continued to supply GMH with fascia's which were GMH boxed and part numbered so in essence are a genuine Holden part.

Typical of Rares however their attention to detail was lacking and the chrome border outline was left out .... over the years as the mould has worn the quality of the fascia's produced has declined.

The early Rares GMH boxed fascia is probably better quality than the ones produced today but I wouldn't be paying too much more then the current cost of a repro fascia for one of them.

I wonder if the idiot light lenses in the older ones are the same as the ones they produce today???

Greg will tell you similar stories about replacement panels for Holdens, ie Taiwanese panels in GMH boxes.

Corret. The warning lights. This is the big dead give away. Change them and add the chrome boarder and I wonder how they would look. Would be interesting to see how much shrinkage there is on the front where all the knobs and screw holes are on the back. Have a look at a repro facia and you will see what I mean. Im told they fixed this issue but dont know.

we have had a similar conversation on these fascias before...both absinth and stickthis have it right...and yes you would classify that as a new old stock gmh item but it would be one of the last to be in a gm branded box..
its not worth any more than one from over the counter at rares...

It's worth at least $20 more than a current repro Greg as it has the RTS badge stuck to it which the current repro's don't have...

Jason, have you considered doing a correct repro of the GTS HJ, HX, HZ warning light lenses? There would surely be a market for them as they are often in poor condition or missing from original fascia's and could be used to replace the crappy Rares ones when buying one of their fascias.
