I am the 5th owner but have had it for over 25 years and it hadn't been messed with too much when I got it, but it is hard to know exactly what things should be like. Have included a pic of console, not sure is this is what is being referring to as a 74 inertia reel console or not, but I'm pretty sure that this would be the orginal console. Note that footwell trims from WB and gearbox boot is not original, also used to have viynl floor in Chestnut. Cheers

I have a copy of all the Kingswood interior trims from the Parts book for 1974, can let you know your trim accurately if you want. Let me know the trim code and I will give you the combo. If it is a Belmont I am in trouble.

Thanks - the trim code on my ute is 1878 - 39E which I understand is straight Chestnut vinyl - no inserts etc. What I am still not sure about is should the console be black or chestnut? Also my ute only has small/low rear mounting bracket for the console the front screws just go straight into the floor - is that normal for HQ's? Cheers

Maybe that's the answer - black... (also edited my post re: console mounting brackets - any insights on this one?)

The trim list makes no mention of the console colour so we are none the wiser. My original Sandman was Chestnut in colour and the console in it was black, as was the carpets. I think the console was a HJ type and the carpet may have been repalced as the ute had been repainted a later Sandman colour and the doors retrimmed. Seats, dash and Steering wheel definatley original, as were the original guards.

1878 is Chrome yellow, this is the GMH colour code for exterior paint.

If screws go int the floor and there has never been a front bracket it is looking like not being a Sandman.

the dash in that 350 is black and the console is the open inertia type..that particular car is not a good example to look at for originality regardless what the add says..:errf:

That is identical look to the fascia I bought back around 1982 from Holden dealer in WA. The fascia I replaced was the same but obviously faded and worn in parts like I have seen in many photos. As the ute I had was owned by family members since at least early 1979, when the ute was only 5 years old, I would have to assume that fascia was original as it would seem unlikely it would have been replaced so soon.
