I didn't see the from Perth bit. I only saw the 40km's out of Melbourne bit... Serves me right for not reading it properly!
My aplogies Blocker. Won't happen again... :shifty:
Hahaha.... I did Brisbane to Melbourne to Brisbane towing a car trailer to pick up a van with a mate.... his van not mine. Was a fun road trip but with the trailer hire and fuel we used it pretty much cost the same as paying for it to be transported.
40hr + round trip non stop, leaving friday arvo and getting home very late Sunday night..... we took turns driving and were both knackered by the time we got home and didn't go to work on the Monday.
4/75 HJ XX7 Sandman Panelvan ... Persian Sand currently restoring
7/76 HX Monaro 4dr 308 4sp... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell.. SOLD
3/77 HX Sandman Panelvan ... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell .. SOLD
thanks for the phone number (one of the advantages of being a member of forums such as this one). anyway not all things go to plan.i rang graeme the next day and the van was picked up and taken to some depot in melbourne and has sat there in the weather ever since! he keeps telling me it will be on the way across to WA on one of the next loads. i am so glad i insisted the owner remove the tags and send them to me registered post. hope the van arrives soon, maybe before it rains in perth.
anyway in the mean time i flew with the mrs to adelaide , watched the clipsal v8s and drove my newly purchased 05 terismo 6ltr GTO home. so much more comfortable than the last trip to qld monaro nationals in a hj 4dr gts and return in ahq coupe.
p.s i will never complain about aussie post being snail mail again. the tags arrived 18/2, the vans still not here

non runner car transport is always fun and they do take there time...i sent an ek windowless van from newcastle to perth via melbourne and i believe that took 6 weeks..
i am currently waiting on my motor home cab chassis ford transit which is north of coffs harbour and that has been a week since ok to pick up was given..hoping to get it by thursday...
for any other people reading this, non running cars are best picked up by boat/caravan transporters..everyone rings the car transport guys and they generally charge like a wounded bull...even running cars i use them as they are generally cheaper because they are more laid back...
as for your van sitting in melbourne ask them to fork it into a taughtliner or flatbed instead of waiting for a vehicle transporter..i get a lot of cars forked on and i fork them off..![]()
