    wanted

howdy folks, im after a windowless donor. wrecked front ideal, as i dont want to cut up a nice van, but im going to redo where my pano had windows, so am on the hunt for a windowless donor. im in SA so a local would be perfect.

also on the hunt for a HQ front, ive got a salvage yard to ring in lonsdale, but seeing what else is around, after single headlight front. can swap my HZ front, which has a very, very nice clean bonnet

also a centre console if theres any around, i can never find ones nearby!

    thanks guys and ladies

    Try Ozbox for side panels.

Rare Spares are repro-ing HQ nosecones, I saw the samples 2 weeks ago.

If you can't find a good HQ single headlight support panel, and you can weld OK you can convert your HZ one by cutting the headlight pieces out of a rusty HQ one and welding it into the HZ one. I used to do this in the 80's when I was making twin headlight fronts out of smashed fronts. I could never get enough good support panels so I used to get HJ-HZ single examples and weld in the headlight bits.

You'll still have to find good guards and bonnet though. Rares now have good grilles with stainless and headling surrounds.

I can probably sort you out for a centre console... would you like a long or short one? if you want a long one you'd have to get the lid and gearstick surround from rares though, i dont have spares of these.

my spare long one is in fair condition with a crack at the base of the gearshift hole, my short one is in really good condition - would need a re-trim on the armrest though.

Try the wrecker at Port Wakefield, had about a dozen HQs in various forms, (can't recall seeing any vans though). I had a walk through there about 2 weeks ago doing a recce for my own ute.

also agree on the port wakefield wreckers, there are few vans there also. From memory the ones that were windowless were WB... someone else is going to have to fill in if that's a problem or not.

I have a theory that WB sheetmetal is thinner, but I don't know if that's true or if it is if you'd even notice on a van side panel.

I'd heard that, I went up with blocker and one of the weekend workers was there. Blocker did laugh at me for paying $10 for a battery tray with surface rust all over it. But the guy was freindly enough once he worked out we had half a clue.

I've yet to sandblast my battery tray, but it's only the second one I've seen that didn't have holes in it.

The owner is renowned for being 'difficult'. He is more of a hoarder/collector than a wrecker.
