I wouldn't waste time or money getting the engine pulled apart. Any cars like that just replace the engine, people practically give them away. Make sure it is the engine first though. Does it make the noise when it's in gear and you rev it with the brakes on? If it's only when moving it might be transmission related instead.

Engine swaps are easy. Get a couple of mates, a slab of beer and if you really need it , a workshop manual.
