Roof mounted aerials

Hi all,

Has any one got any information for the correct placement for a roof mounted aerial.
Were these fitted as an option from factory?

Previous owner has fitted in behind rear vision mirror. But i feel that this may be the incorrect position.

Also has anyone reconditioned an original roof mount aerial, if so could someone point me towards where to get the rubbers and grip washer assembly.

I always thought that the aerials were guard mounted from original.

As far as the roof aerial is concerned, where it is, it's probably about right.
If it's above the gutter it tends to have more chance of leaking, whereas below the gutter it has only a very small amount of chance of getting rain in.
Also behind the mirror makes it very easy to install and/or remove.
