ok so this is the 5th time writting this msg since the computer keeps turning off. i got details on the van after getting a few vids and photos sent to my email. its a 308 with a 400 turbo in it.. its duel fuel and because of restrictions i have to drop it back to a 202.. will the gas mean i have to do anything different when turning it back to a 202.. blocker filled me in on what i have to change *searches for post* now all i need to do is find all the items.. i can get a 202 for around 150-200 bucks from a wreckers.. once i throw the 202 in ill work on the 308 or sell it off.. and have it ready to go in when im off the restrictions.. just gotta write down some costings and remember what i need to change.. finally after a lot of thinking ive seen 2 vans with what i want or close enough and im hoping to get things rolling

That 202 ebay ad you linked to was $250 on a changeover basis, meaning you need to give them an old 202 as well. Then you have to find a gearbox, linkages, radiator, possibly starter, alternator etc. Best bet is to buy an entire 202 auto car. You should pick one up for $500 with a bit of rust, that way you have everything needed and you're able to test drive it beforehand. You'll probably be able to sell any leftover body parts as well, might even make your money back if it's got good guards and bonnet and some decent interior bits. I've got a 202 HZ wagon but it's a manual and probably a bit far away.
As for fitting it, buy the manual, get a few mates around and go for it. If you can operate a ratchet you should be able to do it. Pulling the nosecone and rad support off makes it nice and easy to remove/install motors with gearboxes attached. Label things and take photo's as you pull bits off and just put everything back where you got it from. Jennies mates must have been drinking a real lot if it took them several weekends, or they were distracted by the hot chicks hanging around the garage watching them work. If you had 3 or 4 reasonably handy mates helping it's easily a day job.
ok cheers playwme that helps a lot... Should i be looking for a HZ or will the Q,J,X be fine? i spose getting it from a hz or something would mean an easier fit coz i assume you cant just throw in a 202 from a VB straight in there... ive just been told there might be another party involved in the car im looking at.. but ok the hunt is on for a donor car then.. anybody know of one?

No go with the turbo box on a 202 as far as i am aware. Dont buy a commodore engine as you have to change sump etc.
yeah i thought that was the case with the sump and that.. just sourced a hj with the stuff i need which will do for now :D $500 bucks for the whole ute im gonna see if i can part the parts from the shell.. reckon $500 bucks good for a 202 engine, radiator, alternator, starter and whatever else i need from the motor?
can score that ute for 500.. worth it? all id need is a tranny and the HZ pano would be a 202
