pollution equiptment? what like a carby and catalytic or something? can you explain a bit more..

    Also something agr071 brought up
NickG - Not sure but one to ask the guru's, will you need the tailshaft and gearbox support as well? Also gearbox linkages will be different as well, so i'm not sure if they'll have to be changed.
can anyone tell me if i will have to change the tailshaft and gearbox support..

Tailshaft and crossmember will have to change as it is a TH400. Linkages will too. All unbolts. This is why you'll need a donor car for all this stuff.

Pollution equipment is all over the HZ engine. HJ have minimal (just a canister mainly).

ok so i can just use the uts tailshaft from what info i've found on the web as they are the same? or will it have problems connecting to the 10 bolt dif

so that means i have to set the pollution equiptment to the standard of the donor hj or the hz?

If it is a banjo car the tailshaft won't fit. You'll need one of the following tailshafts:

HQ V8 (except 350) wagon, ute, van or Statesman.
HJ-HZ V8 (except 308 auto) wagon, ute or van.
WB V8 ute or van or Statesman after about 11/81.

You could swap the banjo across but it'd just be easier to get a V8 tailshaft.

No, linkage for a column shift would come off the donor car. Or use a T-bar.

If the HJ is a 6cyl it most likely will have a banjo.

ohh ok yep i get ya. It did have a banjo as well but the HZ has a tbar no idea what the hj runs.. but yeah all this could go on hold because its being harder than expected to convince the parents that i need a car... (you'd think it would be easy):Chin:
