There is no real direct equivalent of a Sandman today. Closest I can think of would be an S ute when they were still made (VU, maybe early VY was the last).

You would have to compare it to a car with a carburettor, no ABS, rear wheel drums, live rear suspension. I reckon the closest thing to that today is a Toyota Hilux. About $30000 for one of them new. I reckon Robbo would have made a small amount on his investment.
The hilux probably has ABS and fuel injection so it is still going to be more expensive to build.
