    308 to 202 Conversion -Offered

So i was offered today by a bloke at a wrecking yard that he would convert the HZ im looking at into a 202 from a 308.. Now the HZ atm has a 308 and a hydramatic 400. He offered to supply the running gear (alternator, radiator, starter etc) for the 202 if he could keep the 308 and hydramatic. He also offered to install it for me but im sure he would charge something for that... I will supply engine numbers later as soon as i get the info.. Also what do you think is a fair price for the conversion considering the above.. This was just an idea given out and thought id discuss the offer with the brain trust

Why do you want to convert a 308 to a 202?

If it's because of licence restrictions, I'd sit it out & wait.

If it's for economy, I'd put EFI on the 308, or go LPG.
They're not that much worse on fuel than a 202 anyway - once you take the lead out of your right toe & have the carby tuned well.

I don't think you should be paying for the conversion at all if the guy doing it is getting a 308/Turbo in exchange for a 202/tri. Everyone here knows that Oz is the only honest wrecker in Australia.

I'm starting to see why your parents may be a bit hesitant to help you fund this project. Your plan seems a bit all over the place and no doubt they are worried you're not going to get value for money. Your first step should be to buy a van, then worry about details. There's been some really good consistent advice in all your other threads from people who've been there and done that and I reckon you need a bit more confidence in your own abilities, especially given your financial situation.
