[QUOTE=I don't recall our old WB Kingswood ute having a patterned backing on it's tonneau either.... both cars were Brisbane build I believe.[/QUOTE]

    all WB's were Adelaide build

i have a low milage WB kingswood with the correct tarp on it.
they were also alot thicker too..

    HZ tonneau

Here's some pics of the original on mine ('79 HZ Kingswood). The underside is plain & it doesn't have the additional seem of the WB one I posted earlier.

Note that I've replaced the original white cord with black elastic though.

Nice, ute looks good as well. Is the cover heavier than current ones on the market?

I'd say so. The repro ones appear to be lighter / thinner material; not as 'taut' as the originals.

Nice one. It looks to be the same style of material as the wb but as you say has a different underside pattern.
I wonder why they change the pattern for wb. Must have had something to do with material suppliers.

A few more examples would be nice.

hmm all the pics are helping. I plan on doing a trip to the HZ Sandman ute with 63,000km on it in the mesuem. I have spoken to the owner and he is happy to organize for me to be able to take photos/measurements etc. =)

I know what you mean, the one I had for my ute in the early 80's was always tight and looked good. I can't remember it ever leaking either
