I remember when you could buy these in the 80's. They look kinda strange on a van, not bad or ugly just wierd. I doubt i'd fit one though. The best thing about a van is being able to drive around with the top tailgate up.
Here's what this tailgate looks like on a van.
There are plenty more pics of other vans if you want them NickyG!!!

Man that is one ugly HQ! No wonder the van craze died out!
Each to their own. I'm not a fan now, but when I was in my teens and 20's in the 80's they looked great. I think it was the whole space craze in the early 80's that pushed these designs - for instance Star Wars, Space 1999, Buck Rogers and Battle Star Galactica.
Now I prefer straight, clean factory lines.
I don't mind a good or well done custom, but that van is awful. Look at how the rear aerofoil looks like it is tek screwed to the roof rails. And the front guards look like they've been hammered out and bogged around the edges, and also the bottom of the guards just below the flutes and behind the wheel looks like it has been folded outwards to form the flare. The running board looks like it is needed to keep it all together! The rear guards look OK probably because they have a lip, but the front have no lip just a sharp edge. I also don't mind the rear gate, but it looks ridiculous with the tail-lights bogged up and that awful rear bar grafted on. If you sat this and alleycat side by side it'd be like chalk and cheese.
Are these any better.
Note the bottom van has the tailgate moulded to the van & the screen hinges out.
