I have a (non-Sandman) Belmont Van built 8/74 in Adelaide with 200kph only speedo.
It's only had one other owner aside from me, and I'm sure it's original.

    Cheers

Let's talk about odometers, for a change.

When I sold my HQ van in 1984, it had about 180,000km on it; ie, it had passed "99999.9" and was reading "80000.0" (or thereabouts)

The next owner (for 27 years) believed that the odometer had gone through "zero" at least twice, meaning that the van may have covered more than 400,000 km. (I'm certain the speedo is original - see my previous post on this thread).

Is any way you can tell how many times the speedo has "zeroed out" ?

    Cheers

    Bruce

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge there is no way of telling how many times it has clocked over.
    It just keeps clocking over.
    Cheers Paul.

Well not sure that this is going to add to the overall knowledge base on this stuff, but had the dash fascia to remove dead stereo, so decided to pull the gauges out to see what was on them - so here goes.

    My ute is 5/74 build.

Speedo was 200Kph and 125 Mph Flexdrive so no date code, also no sticker although you can see where a sticker was... Also has 0-200, 0-120 and 0-140 part numbers on the back as per an earlier post in this thread by Absinth.

I have never changed the speedo and reckon it could well be the original one... but no way to know for sure. Have included pic below.

Tacho - flexdrive and also no sticker.

Bat/Temp gauge was VDO, RD (white sticker), 6/74 metal stamp and 7/74 ink stamp - this is obviously not the original gauge as after ute build date. I know I have replaced this gauge at least once over the years.

Fuel/Oil gauge was VDO, QW (red sticker), 1/74 metal stamp and 2/74 ink stamp - I have never changed this gauge so it could be the original...

This is the first one I have seen of the 220kph speedos of the ugly type with both kmp and the yellow mph.

I have a couple of these 200kph ones which look to be a sticker over the origional face. Where these a mod of the day or released as the interum factory one?

This is the first 220 one I have seen of theses as well.
As to factory/Holden related or not that is still something I am still trying to get to the bottom of.
I have been told no by a few people but my ex boss worked at a Holden dealership here in WA (Melville Motors) in the 70,s and
one of his jobs was to fit them to the speedo's.
So not factory but carried out by at least 1 WA Holden dealer ?.
    Cheers Paul.

yeah, you would think if flexdrive did it they would be printed and the same font size at least.

I don't think he would of run out of 220kmp stickers Paul... haha
