The story goes ; this guy rang me from the paper wanting a 10 bolt sails diff for a ute and for it to be fitted, so, we agreed on $500 and i changed the blown one out. After taking it for a test run with new diff,
Then the young guy (21) with 2 newborns said " now i can sell the piece of crap", so i said, "whats under the bonnet + How much"?
and when i saw the XX7 tags and worked 350 i jumped at it.
To this day, he still didn't realise what it was..
i brought it for $4400 in 2004, with a blown diff minus $500. so it was $3900
i haven't done a thing to it apart from change carb from holley to Rochester
i will pull it off the road when i have the time to commit to a full rebuild - which will be modified stock.
has anyone seen another malachite ute or van???
Malachite is a 1979 colour only, and the utes finished in march 1979, i am yet to see another HZ in this colour.
