ive been a club registrar for one club for a few years now....now anything i say from here on in relates to NEW SOUTH WALES ONLY....
firstly it must be a registered with fair trading car club with x amount of members and x amount of eligable cars..
generally you must be a member of registered car club for 6 months or more and go on x amount of runs..this is a car club thing not fair trading..
eligable cars are 30 years and older..this is rta law..
vehicles must be as close to stock/original as possible to qualify for club rego but there is a clause that says period modifications are acceptible..(BIG GREY AREA)..sometimes depends on how anal the car club commitee and its registrar are..
restricted to a supposed 8000k a year and you need permission to use your vehicle from said club people...(which can be a problem if they are anal)
you are allowed to take your vehicle for minor and major road testing to a limited area (5k radius for minor)....(11 k radius for major)..this again depends on the clubs constitution as to wether they accepted originally what the rta recommended or wether like myself when i was setting it up i pushed outside the rta boundaries and it was rejected at first but finally accepted..
club rego is $80 for the first year plus whatever club fee there may be and $50 for every year after that..this also makes your insurance real cheap..(one of my cars is $350 for 85k)
there is more but this should give you an idea of the bullshit that goes with club registration in nsw...![]()
