I was looking for one to put in my HZ so i can cover it in velour and put autometer gauges in.
Radio hole is for a flip up,touch screen, cd/dvd player.

Holy crap thats amazing. Wish i knew that collection was there!! Ive finally got a HZ console after searchin for ages for a decent one.. Ah well.

Hey absinth I have a console which was buckskin and has been painted black. Any recommendations on what i should use to try and clean the black off before i paint it chamois?

maybe use a gel form paint stripper and leave it on only briefly???...

The restored Buckskin console. Next time your there find out what they want for it and if they are able to freight it. If so Im keen. Looks like it will be good for the HZ GTS. If not the Sandman van.

3 I have are pretty bad and a lot of them have broken off lower mounting lugs but I can fix most, I thought Greg would have one that would suit your purpose?

This one has a few holes drilled in it in bad spots, lower mounting lugs broken off and is cracked above the column arch. If you are covering in velour the holes can be filled and not seen, I can weld the crack and if I'm in a generous mood can weld on new lugs for you. If you want this one you can have it. Be a little while before I can repair it though so as long as you don't need one now. I won't touch the radio hole.....

These two are broken, I'm going to use the top one to repair the bottom one and another I have with a switch hole cut out above the column arch.... see how butchered the radio holes are.... lots of work and time consuming to fix and you can see why these weren't sellable.

Hainzy, rip down to Bunnings and buy some powdered caustic soda..... follow the mixing ratio instructions in a plastic tub big enough to submerse the console in. Depending on how thick the paint is it will be clean in a day or so..... keep an eye on it.

Keep children away from the tub, this stuff is pretty nasty but quite safe to pour down the drain when finished..... it is a drain cleaner...

My HZ is column auto, so i need the selector hole out anyway.
Greg wasn't sure what he had in stock, i just have to go look to see what i can find.

I've got a HJ one for column auto, I'm using one of the broken fascia's to fill the window in..... been waiting to find a cheap broken GTS fascia as a donor, now I have a few.

Actually, there is a HZ column auto GTS fascia still down at the wreckers..... I didn't get it because of the hole above the column... I'll pick it up for you on the next trip as it was quite a good one with just the radio hole enlarged and a broken lug from memory.

I'll get my HJ one down to you for repair also. It'd be good to get a whole set in a photo together for the book so that it is easy to pick them apart. I'll do the instruments on a different page. Sounds like a mission to get one of each type of fascia together in one place! I'll have black HJ and HZ SL/E to contribute.

Byron if you get your dash to Ozbox wreckers by Sat, I will ask Adam (guy who did all pbeater work to our van) to bring it home and I will take it down to Absinth at Easter....
