hq trims were originally formed plastic... the repro trims are usually made of the thicker seat material.... im not sure if it changed from hj on...

i believe someone is currently making repros in original formed plastic material in black only at this point....

I have been told many times that the original style plastic used on the door trims is unavailable and too expensive to get reproduced..... and yes it was used on HQ through HZ.... if you have a source for black in the original style plastic please share.....

no source in particular.... but i spoke to a guy who advertises repro trims on evilbay in melbourne late last year about repro flax trims for my coupe..... conversation turned to original style repro trims and he said that another company was in the process of gearing up to make original type trims in the next 12 months... they would only be making them in black because the demand would be greater..

There is a mob in SA...... Dash Originals???? or something like that. They make repro door trims for $550.00 a pair. All I've seen is the pics on ebay but they look OK.....from a novices view point. I sent them an email back in October about the HJ trims and they said there was about a 6 month wait. They actually rang me last Tuesday to say they were doing a run of HJ trims and asked if I still want a set. Unfortunately the radiator in my Chev crapped itself ( after only 44 years..so much for quality ) and there went my door trim budget.....for now. The lady said she would ring me when they do their next run.

agreed. if they are good then the car would have been garaged. if garaged then its likely too good to wreck = next to no chance of finding good 2nd hand. Im gonna have to grab my ankles as well Blocker :(

Hi Blocker, just purchased a set of black door trims like the ones you have pictured. I compared them to my original ones and couldn't really fault them. I think they are worth the coin mate. Fit was good too.

Does anyone know how/if/where you can get the centre plastic strip "re-chromed"? Would you use one of those people who re-does standard car badges in that gold colour?

    Regards,

Thanks for that. So just to clarify, a HQ belmont sandman van had belmont/ss trim (like under HQSS on winner site) with no armrests. Or could you get a hq belmont sandman vans with armrests? Are all the armrests the same? i think mine are HJ. And the HQ Sandman utes had kingswood trims (which is what winner have listed under HQ Sandman).

Yep Belmont like the SS sedan front ones. The HQ Sandman ute could be ordered in both Kingy and the Belmont. Byron would probably answer the question of the door armrests being available as an option but I always thought they were.

These pictures are on this site somewhere but this is a Belmont HQ Sandman ute. My van has what I think are the origional door trims with no holes for armrests and the long lever to open the door.
