Saw an HJ Aquaris Blue Sandy about 12 months ago driving the opposite way and having been searching for it ever since had become my white whale lol. Saw it sitting in a backyard a few days ago and went around today and knocked on the guys door, turned out to be his mates so he gives me the contact number. I rang the fellow and he is a 65 year old plumber who bought the sandman brand new 1975 HJ 253 Auto windowless, he has used it as his daily for his trade eversince. He told me it has been repainted twice, he is going to give me a call and let me go down for a look and hopefully let me take a few pictures as well, and off course I asked if he was interested in selling and claimed he will probably work another 10 years so will hold on to it, anyway will see how I go once I have had a look who know might make him a offer too good to refuse. One owner vans their still out there, who would have thought and a daily driver as well.

I only accepted his lowball offer cause I thought he was going to do it some justice. Didn't bother me too much as it was a long way down the list of projects and I didn't loose any money, but if you saw the car you sold for 2k show up a week later and go for 30 I'm sure it would be a bit of a kick in the guts.
I know it burns when you see your car sell for more, but firstly did you get what you wanted, did they pay your asking price, if yes well be happy you got what you wanted, if they cleaned it up, advertised better good on them if they make a profit, as I said its burns but you got the cash you wanted

Like I said, it didn't bother me too much as it was a pretty cheap car. If my truck rego wasn't due I probably wouldn't have taken his offer and just parked it back out the farm till I had more time to do something with it. I realise that every buyer tries to screw you down on price. If they're buying from you it's worth $1000 and has a heap of problems. If they're selling it's worth $3000 and contains a whole lot of rare parts. As the saying goes "Sell a car, meet a dickhead."
The main point I'm trying to make is that it's probably the reason why a lot of these old cars are left to rust. People get attached to these vehicles and if it's going to go to someone else you want to see it become someone elses baby, not just a quick easy way of making cash for some guy. If you can't guarantee that then you might prefer to just leave it where it is until it's too late.

know to whole feeling about selling im attached to all my cars it is very hard to sell, I only ever sell if i find something better or more suited to my needs, and the one that goes is the least sentimental value to us

Like the meet a dickhead meet a few of them last car we put on market was a mini van local knob head with loads of cash (he thinks it) came over trying to cut price to less then half, absolut knob, then japanese collector comes in pays every cent, knows what you got and happy to pay price , i got wha i wanted regardless if it goes to japan and he makes a squillion he is buying it and sending it to a market where it is worth more I couldnt do that he could good on him

You've probably already coded it out but I would have thought there would be a bit more room than $3000 for a platinum metallic, black interior,6 cyl, gts. Provided of course its not one for Fred Flintstone and you can find a bit with the old paint on it to match the tags. Looks like thats were all the ht coupes end up going by a article in the last Australian Muscle car mag! All the best with the negotiations, you could always try a bulk buy who knows you might have been tripping over saginaws, ahh the dreams.

    Barnfind

Wondering if their are any Torana nuts on here, have come across a 1972 (June built) GTR XU1 Glacier WHite which was last registered in 1982 and the current owner is the 3rd owner and I also know the second owner. The car has been sitting in a shed all this time, paint is badly deterioated and some surface rust, major rust is bottom left hand guard the size of your fist and two other small spots, dent in front passenger panel the size of your head. Interior needs tidy up new drivers side door trim, new carpet, kick panels rear parcel shelf and few rubbers that have perished. Still have original motor although not in car, globes (need polish and paint) and car has 65,000 original miles. asking price is around the $50,000 which I think is a bit steep for the condition of the car although it is somewhat of a rare find only being on the road for 10 years of its 39 year life. All the parts are their but needs paint badly and new chrome as well as items listed above.
