ive used por15 in other applications..my suggestion is read and then read again the instructions and i would get yourself some crap parts to coat first as a trial run..also use the por15 thinners as normal thinners does not work as well and it doesnt flatten out properly..![]()
POR 15 is excellent stuff but is not UV stable it will go chalky matt black in about a month if left exposed to the sun. IMHO you can't go past two pac it's as tough as nails not like the origial paint used on the wiper arms acrylic lacquer. Just make sure you get a painter to do it as it is nasty stuff.
Cheers Dave

The primer POR 15 the super glossy stuff. In their product booklet it states not UV stable. I will ask the rep for some more info
Do some research and please correct me if I am wrong in relation to masks suitable for 2pac. My understanding is the only respirator suitable for 2 pac is a positive feed respirator. In other words air is supplied to the mask/respirator via an extermal supply of filtered air.
Cheers Dave
and por15 is worse than 2 pack in regard to toxic smell and i suppose toxins...i use to paint chieftan canopies when 2k first came in and cob paints were all the craze in 2k..this was 23 years ago and i only used a normal mask...but back then the drugs i put in my body were worst than the paint fumes..sometimes im amazed im still here...back then i found holding my breath worked well....

Absolutely true Dave, Isocyanates are nasty odourless and colourless chemicals that are asthma inducing and cause respiratory problems with long term use and exposure.
I was applying 2 pak to a floor with a lambswool pad and thought it would be Ok without a mask as I wasn't spraying it...... wrong..... the fumes were enough to give me a severe asthma attack.
A dual cartridge chemical mask works fine for single applications during a short period.... I changed the cartridges after each use and used around four sets to paint a car.
I also wore disposable overalls with gloves, booties and safety goggles, skin exposure is not good either and throw them away after each use.
I was also in a shed on our 10 acre property and had a water filtered extraction fan venting out the door.....
I sprayed 2 pak once in a suburban garage after emptying the garage of everything except the car and covered all the walls in plastic with a wet towel across the door into the house. Again I had a water filtered extraction fan venting out the back door.
I will be painting my van this time around in the garage but this time I will use a Isocyanate free 2K system, not as good as true 2K but much better than normal acrylic and better for me, my family and the neighbours......
If I was out on a property as wbute is and away from neighbours I would spray with normal 2K again... you do need to take the proper precautions though... don't have the wife or kids anywhere near while you are spraying....
