    Thanks guys,

I can see the obvious advantages of making power with the 308 or having good power and economy with the injected 304 but I love the way that the 253 makes power. Its a good little revy engine and I'd like to see what it potential it has.

The theme of my rebuild is, that the modifications could have been offered as an optional extra such as,

    - Duel tanks
    - Duel batteries
    - "High" performance engine option
    - etc...

so its not over the top anyway kinda just wanted my own spin on it

I might try the 286 stroker out, mild cam, a four barrel and better manifold, better zorst and a little head work. hopefully that will keep me happy

    --- Updated ---

Plus I'd like to keep it as original as possible

Where are you getting the stroker crank from? Would love to see the difference it makes!

Is it possible to fit fuel injected heads from a 304 and run the fuel injection on the 253?

    307 pistons in a 253, + bored out gives 292

the blue 253 is by far the best... with the rochester and electronic ignition....

Valves hit the block. Plus ports and valves are way too big for a 304, better suited to a 350ci engine.

pro stroke makes a kit, check it out on there website... http://www.pro-stroke.com.au/
its a bit $$$ but makes it easy for someone with my limited knowledge

They also make a 310 ci stroker kit but I'm pretty sure that you have to get the block notched to accommodate the extra swing.

I like the idea of the stroker because of the added torque. But a nice 350 chev would be very nice

but this 253 isn't a slug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-BPuWaCnPo (there maybe hope)
