WB Ute floppy mirrors

Gday guys, Im in the process of fixing up my 82 WB ute. The mirrors are the bare steel type that pivot on a ball behind the glass. They are very loose. I have tightened the screw's around the ball but didnt realy make a huge difference.

Are they even repairable? Im wanting to keep the ute original so would rather not go to statesman or the later type plastic ones.

Any help appreciated.

dylan,the heads are available from rare spares as an almost direct copy..best jus to buy new...this is a bad picture but it is a metal head and will screw on if you have holden arms... http://www.rarespares.net.au/rarespa...product=DM1007

If you find an SL/E Gemini these have remote control mirrors, sort of same concept as the HQ-HZ style. It is fiddly but all the guts, cable etc fits into a WB Kingswood driver's side mirror and the remote control knob sits in the same place it does on HQ-HZ. Works a charm. Just requires a big hole in the door under the WB Kingswood mirror, same as HQ-HZ have for the remote mirrors.
