    Any motor trimmers on here????

I have removed the seat covers from some seats I have to restore and re-upholster but the frames have a lot of surface rust on them....

I was thinking of removing the foam cushions from the frames and having them bead blasted and painting them... the cushions are glued on in several places and I am wondering if it is very difficult to glue them back down properly or is it not advisable to do this.... don't want to screw up some very good seats.

I was amazed at how stained the cushions are.... many years of built up sweat on those... can they be cleaned????

The frames are solid and in good nik but have a lot of surface rust on them, would be nice to clean them up and re-piant them to stop them rusting more..... and they just look shitty...

Absinth my trimmer removed the foams off the frames so they could be blasted. I am doing the same with another pair of seats.

The foams were cleaned and reused, where he found some worn foam he cut out blocks and replaced, particularly in the head/shoulder rest area.

Cool, thanks Blocker... I'll remove the foam and wash them... unreal that the frames are just bare metal, a bit of rust and it is no wonder the vinyl wears and splits around the bases.

Do you use winner products? Can you ask a price for some SL/R covers for two front seats next time you are there... (1) slate black with herringbone cloth inserts.... and (2) slate black with grey golfball vinyl inserts...

I've not used Winner but spoken with them and seen their operations. I used a small business trimmer - works on his own and is ex-GMH Adelaide.

He did add a more dense foam around the shoulder sections where the backing plates tend to cut through, that was the only modification he made. The rest was original.

The next set I will record the process to upload here.

any idea on cost, I will need to retrim my seats in the coming months? Powder coating would be a good option as well to consider.

I received quotes varying from $550 to $950 for a pair of seats. That's a big gap, so probably not very helpful to your question.

Just a note that I remember when getting your frames blasted. The back rest wires are separated by raffia paper to keep them apart from each other. Blasting WILL destroy these so take precautions.
