    Best wood for archway

Just wondering what's the best wood to use for my archway?
I currently have 12mm MDF but as i don't like the design of it, i'm going to change it.
SO should i use MDF or 5 ply or similar?
    Thanks

We used 19mm formply but that is because we had it left over from a job, and it is a little expensive, but mdf is okay but 12mm ply would be a better board for stapling vinyl etc. to it....
do you have a plan for the outside shape of the arch....

Thanks and yes i have the copy of it in CV&T.
But i think there is an error with the measurements - Anyway mine has the full hoodlining, whereas the one in CV&T was for the half hoodlining version.

    Agro,
Are you going to upholster it? If you are you may find MDF to dence to take staples. MDF dust is also very harmful to your lungs. I hate the stuff. I think plywood is the go.

    Don't forget some photos.

    Edit.
I just read what jennie wrote about staples LOL. Maybe I should read things a bit better.

Yes true we got our pattern from CV&T but Rodney had to trim the top to suit the hoodlining...but apart from that it fitted well

I had to do the same at the top.
Also a little bit on the sides to fit over my curtains.

I agree, MDF is nasty. If you plan on painting the edges then it's the material of choice, sadly.. But otherwise use some rotary cut CD Ply if it's going to be fully upholstered. If you are looking for some cheep ply get it with as "DGB" down grade back. Talk some lingo at the timber yard then hit them up for atleast 20% discount.. lol, have fun with the chopping!
