If they do give me a D4D i'd fit a Chip IT boost and fuel controller for $1200. These give about 30-40% torque improvement and 2 or so L/100kM better economy. Problem is though if it is a manual the stupid dual mass flywheels and clutches are only just sufficient for the standard D4D. Add another 150nM of torque and it won't last!

I have heard of clutch trouble in them also. I would never say the hilux was a tough vehicle, they are now a tradies ute that wont get stuck in mud on a building site and go well on the highway. The old Hiluxs had a tough drive line and no power, the new ones have heaps of power and the drive line and body is as weak as.
Those chips make em go like stink from what I have heard, but they use a shed load of fuel as well. Power needs fuel though.
I dont know if you can fit a Prado chip as I assume they must be different. They make power and torque but use the same amount of fuel.
Just stick a injected 350 in it Byron!

I originally bought the V6 auto as it was the easiest to convert to a 6.0L V8 (LS2). To convert a diesel it is too hard and expensive.

After the accident I'd say they are pretty tough in a crash! I would hate to think what would have happened if I was in a small car like a Cruze or Camry.
