yeah i have no idea why their tow capacity is only that. had the ute towing 1700 and it doesnt even flinch, or drop in the back. i think they should have a higher capacity as they can definately handle it! veyr safe, easy tow cars

My VY SS ute wasn't that great to tow a car trailer with, it swayed and carried on heaps worse than the VS I had prior to it. The biggest problem with my VY was it was a manual and too tall geared for towing, auto would have fixed that though!

agree with the previous models not being too great. the VE is definately a huge improvement. grunt and stablity, you dont even know its there. my old vt used to drop in the back end, the ute doesnt even move hardly! even with the horsefloat, and we loaded the front up of the float to see if it would drop then, but nope. i think holden did a towing capacity typo LOL

I think it is weight based. VE V8 auto wagon is 2100kg, but manual version is limited to 1600kg by the clutch. Specs say VE manual and auto V8 utes are both 1600kg but manual is restricted to 100km/h max. I'd say the ute's weight restricts it to 1600kg.

It would be price mate. Had the same issue with mine - you may have to drop 5k to 8k to move it as there are always deals to be done with the dealers. I know of people buying new for less than the second hand prices.
