Center cap - lion tail/no tail

    Hey guys,

Just a silly question to throw past you. The center cap for the rally rims on HJ. It's my understanding that the lion does not have the tail? The tail appeared on the lion after HJ?

It was during HQ (1973?) that they changed to long tail, so HJ would be long.

it was at the start of hj that the logo changed...HQ..all logos are short tail..HJ HX HZ WB..all logos are long tail..

so..all hq is short tail and the rest are long tail...only variations in gts centre caps are very early hq like first 6 months had a die cast centre cap..after this all the centre caps had 3 spring steel type tabs to hold them on and all had sticker inserts for the holden logo..

I got this from notes I took over a year ago from another reputable forum in which you posted. My mistake and thanks for clarifying.

I think you might find that lurkers who don't ask questions regularly read what is said to expand their knowledge as well.

thanks for the compliments mauser but i dont consider myself to be an expert..i do early holdens for a living, not a hobby, and the hq series is the one im more passionate about..im quite happy to be corrected but it needs to be from a parts catalogue to prove it.
i love learning new stuff and i usually do learn something new everyweek regardless how inane it may be...:Chin:

haha well I'm a IT network engineer... we all have our niche. Somebody else always knows something you don't whoever they are. I think every job has good and bad in it.
