Needing Heater tap advice??

The Empire van doesnt have a heater tap so I want to put one in!!
Only thing is Im not sure of the difference in the taps available,or
wether they need to be mounted to yhe inner gaurd or they are kept
in place just by the heater hose!!
This is one I got from Greg!!

Not sure why thes one offers a threeway option, yet it does have the bits to cap the side one off!!
Im thinkin this one is the correct one, but still not sure about the mounting of it..

It just goes into the hose about halfway along the rocker cover. The hose clamps are enough to hold it and the special little clip will hold the cable in place.
I dont know what the 3 way tap is for but I know Byron was chasing a vacuum one for his HJ sedan so must be something to do with them?

The cable just has a double 90 degree bend in the end which operates
the valve mechanism..

It needs the clip(much the same if not the same as the bonnet cable) which clamps the cable outer to the metal part of the tap. This allows the cable inner to slide in the outer part if you get what I mean. have a look at this pic and you can just see the tap.

Couldnt see the clip M8 but I think I get it!! I need to fix the cable to the matal body of the tap so only the inner cable moves!! Still have no clip though!! Maybe a zip tie might work??

I got a nOS one off Ebay. Cost nearlly $300 bucks though, but neither of those is like a HQ-HJ V8 with A/C tap as these are vacuum operated.

Yeah they are different but why do they have the 3 way tap?

I believe, that the two way heater hose, switch went on vehicles which had evaporative, and exhaust emmission controls, both 6cyl and v8. On those 6 cyl and v8 without exhaust emission controls, had a 3 way tap, and the third pipe went to the intake manifold.

That does make sense as the HX-HZ engines had a 2 way vacuum valve which is now reproed, but the earlier car were a 3 way and impossible to find.
