So being from Acacia Ridge, would it have A8J option code stamped on the plate?
I saw a Vacationer once from Acacia with the option stamped on.
There are a few:
XU3 (Sandman late HJ-HZ)
XX7 (Sandman on HQ and early HJ and Sandman 10cwt on late HJ on)
XU4 (10cwt late HJ-HZ)
A8J (Big Country/Deluxe HJ)
XW5 (Outback package)
XY7 (Special Appearance and Features - cab chassis)
BO6 (Ambulance - van and cab chassis)
XV8 (White cab with grey parts - no idea what this was for).
There are a few others too, these are just the main ones.
So have I got it right that ID plates (tags etc..) have the option code XX7 etc stamped on them if they rolled out of Acacia Ridge? but not Elizabeth, Pagewood etc? me wonders why it was only the one plant.......maybe the GMH boffins up there decided to be different? if so glad they did!
Yes, special vehicle package code was stamped into BODY plate of Acacia Ridge bodied vehicles for the time of Sandman production. It does help identifying some, but makes bugger all difference to others if you know what to look for especially XX7's. 18V trim on a HX or 2000kg GVW on a later HZ are just as good. Where it can really help is with HQ, early HJ or XU3's.
That name came from Dr Terry, i'll ask hime where he saw it. I think it was on sales literature.
