HZ Sandmans used as support vehicles for Repco rally

    Guys

Anyone know of the location of any of these vehicles?

Researching Dandenong HZ's I have found 3 x L31 M21 power steered HZ vans with consective PSN's. They are all 9/77 build and will have chassis numbers less than AHZ00100M. They are all internal GM-H Melbourne vehicles.

So putting 2 and 2 together I am wondering if at least one of these (or all of them) ended up as Repca rally vans especially given that they were internal cars? Anyone know where one of these is or if they were actually Dandenong build (if someone knows someone who had one and has old rego papers with chassis number would answer that question)?

The rego for the two plain white vans was KGB-693 and KGB 692. They where loaned to the team according to my sources for the event and where returned after the Repco finished. The trial ran for two weekd from the 5th to 19th August 1979. It's resonable to assume that HDT may have recieved the two white vans 4 weeks before the event to fit roof racks signage etc you would assume an early 79 build date for the two white vans. For JZA (the Marlboro signage van) a 9/77 build date is a posibility. Reg Shepheard remembers travelling down to Melbourne as a kid towing one of the HDT Gemini rally cars with his old man. He believes that was some time in 1978. So one of the vans listed below could be JZA. It would be a miracle to find the rego papers as rally people are not known for paying carefully attention to there service vehicles.

The GTS rims on the one that appears to be a Sandman dates it earlier than mid 1978 too, so a good possibility. It is the GMH internal thing that makes me really wonder.
