Nothing bets a week of rallying! Great choice of vehicle. Did you compete in the main event against the likes of Jimmy Richards, Tony Sullens, Tony Quinn etc or was there a sepate touring event for standard roads cars without all the cage, harness, driving suit stuff? If it was a touring road event I am curious as to how they timed it. Was timing to the minute or the second? I'm sure the brake pedal was getting pretty long by the end of some of the long tight twisty stages! Great to see a classic out there being driven in a spirited manner there should be more of it!

Van77, what a great story, which has inspired me to want to join in....Always wanted to see Tassie, so a great way to do that...I think Rodney certainly could handle the driving...me not so sure...but would be petrified of writing off the van...so much work in resto
My brother in law does Rally racing so will speak to him about what you need to do to the van to qualify going in this sort of event..
hope to see you posting more about your van etc. on the Forum![]()

We were in the tour stage, you would need too many mods. to get the van up to the standard needed for the timed events. The tour section does exactly the same stages without the major mods. Its also a bit cheaper. You do need to keep your own times as there is no classifications in this event. Talking to some of the others who have done both tour and competitive, they claim they were going just as fast and having more fun because it was less serious. If your not set up to be in the top 5 in each class, then this is the way to go, especially in a van.
wow , nice work
that sounds so very very cool .
i have a urge deep down to get my butt to this now so much more then before
