I am not a mechanic but from reading about old tractors Kerosene was quite abrasive, don't know if it would clean the injectors.

A teaspoon full in a bucket of hot water was good for giving a dull paint job some shine years ago.

considering injector cleaner is very much like a solvent and doesnt have any wd40 like properties i would think that its crap...
kero is excellent for preventing rust and brightening paint and mouldings in any car by adding to the bucket of suds when you wash...

Have heard this one. Old mate told me when he was in the fire brigade they used to wash the trucks with a scrubbing brush and Kero mixed with hot water. Reckons it bought the trucks up better than anything else.

this is my understanding of the kerosene/petrol cleaner argument

from what i understood most injector cleaners were actually a partial mix of kerosene and alcohol as it is, i know they smell similar too last time i used some (straight gas car now)

the kerosene works as a solvent and cleans out all the gunk, from what i understand its also safe on rubber hoses etc too

kerosene is also jet fuel so im sure it burns ok, would probably need the heat from petrol ignition to get it going well tho, iv always assumed it would burn semi like a diesel fuel but iv never actually bothered to play around with it

i know a few people who claim to use it and they all say it works fine, but iv never actually used it

on a carby car i still love the old method of bringing the revs up then using your palm to block off the carby so it sucks the carby dry in an instant, just sucks all the crap into the motor, every time iv done it it works better then any injector cleaner

Pepper does work, floats on top and obviously works it way to holes, not good for the system though, definitely emergency only

gear oil in motors does NOT stop an engine blowing smoke as the viscosity of gear oil in an engine once hot is about a 10 grade..like water..:knockout:
