    I think what Byron is eluding to is to provide information for enthusiasts for identification or verification but not to provide a shopping list to make a lazy charlatans life easier. That doesn't help anybody.

    Kruiz I think the whole discussion is relevant to the information you posted .sometimes it is not that easy to determine the authenticity of a sandman . Holden didn't make it very easy the way they tagged and made vehicles .brisbane built sandman are the only ones that are easy to identiy.as well as the plate info which probably points to a sandman ute gts components tyre placards etc would reinforce the identify .but from the information you have supplied like stick this said it looks like a kings wood sandman . Most of sandman where made from base model Belmonts so the kings wood sandman's adds confusion to the identification espically hj's which appears to be mixture of Belmont and kingswood depending on the manufacture date .

    Red face

    I want to make something clear please. I agree that one, two or ten people should not be the holder of all knowledge it defeats the purpose of the site here and can have a negative affect.
    There are a couple of issues to consider though;

    1. The knowledge about Sandman's gained by discussions on the forums in the past 18 months has been evolving, what was thought to be 100% 12 months ago has been proven to be incorrect and visa-versa. It's amazing what the community has brought together and discovered through sharing information.

    2. There are some people out there that are keen to make a quick buck and damage the uniqueness of the Sandman. It has happened in other car restoration circles where people have copied, manufactured or out and out forged there non genuine unique car into a unique one and 'ripped' unsuspecting people off. The last thing we need is the Sandman community tainted with fakes, which will make it difficult to determine a genuine article against a non.

    So we have to find a balance. If you have a question about your van/ute, if you want to know what colour wire is correct, whether it should have x,y or z option please ask and we will share it or help find the info for you publicly on the forums.
    I am certainly not someone with all the knowledge on Sandman's (just take 10 minutes to read through some of my posts). I plan on removing the incorrect info on the ID page and either correcting it or updating it. The early HJ can be (in some cases) difficult to ID, and I think it is best explained through discussion rather than a brief statement on a webpage that can be misinterpreted.

    I'm pretty sure I have read every post on these forums, and not once have I read anyone saying they are not willing to provide help or correct info.
    Kruiz - hang in there mate you have a bit of an interesting car there and it deserves some input. I appreciate your comments and do not disagree, I just hope you can understand why somethings have not been updated or corrected... oh and the other reason is cause I am busy putting another video together
    G'day I'm Rodney Barnes and this is my Sandman

    Aaah, goodo. I wasn't sure I'd understood properly in the first place. On top of it now. Definately not trying to say something negative.

    Mauser read what I meant correctly. I don't think the info should be innacurate, but it shouldn't be specific enough to allow people to build fakes. The knowledge that allows a fake to be detected needs to be kept relatively private. This will not affect the Sandman enthusiast at all, just those trying to fake a Sandman from something that isn't. I'd rather see questions be asked about a certain car before it becomes a pseudo Sandman, that see someone decide for themselves that it is and be off fooling the world with it (and any future buyer).

    I agree with perhaps keeping a couple of things secret but if there is only a select few that know then the con artists will still be able to get away with it. Not every potential Sandman purchaser is going to come here asking questions and unless you can get the people that know the secrets to inspect the car then you're no better off. No-one wants to wait around if there's a chance someone else will snatch the deal in the meantime.

    As for the M and N differences discussed in that other thread, this info doesn't necessarily have to updated to be correct, just removed completely if it is wrong. I spent a lot of time looking at that ute ad and id info both here and on Byrons site. After finally coming to the conclusion that it had to be an XU4 Twotees wen't and threw his XU3 stamped plates into the thread which pretty much wen't completely against what both ID sections said.

    Blocker you will really have your work cut out for you working with footage from that guy, trying to make something out off it .the van would come up all right but the main actor would be relying on your ability to produce a good result
    I also was not trying to be critical of our (your) site just pointing out to kuize that it difficult to come up with the answer some time.

    Dead on!! As most here know I am looking to find a van to do up. It doesnt have to be a Sandman, no will it be passed off as a Sandman, it may bear Sandman stripes but not the logo. This may sound sorta stupid to some I guess but there will be some clever signwriting done in a simialr font to the sandman logo but it will say somthing rather different. I agree completely HK, whilst it is good to provide this info, aqt the same time we dont want to foster a "pseudo sandman" culture
