Absinth, how do you KNOW that it went in the middle + a rear sandman sticker as well?

Plenty of owners over the years could and probably did change or add badges.

HJ Kingswood Sandman had the Kingswood badge in the middle and the 4.2L or 5.0L badge mostly on the drivers side but I have seen them on the passengers side also... (possibly an assembly plant thing?)

Hows that for a definitive anwser Adam???

Not that elusive, I have been stocking up and have 3... one of which is NOS.. gotta love Ebay

Finding them with both mounting pins not broken off is the hard part......... These were fitted to all HJ-HZ Holden utes and panelvans so there really should be heaps around but like fuel caps a lot of people must have removed them...
YOU ARE CORRECT I AM A PANEL BEATER SO THERE FOR I SHOULD KNOW IF A PANEL IS FACTORY OR NOT . NO ONE CAN REPRODUCE THE SAME PAINT AS FACTORY AS WE CAN NOT BUY THE SAME PRODUCTS AND NOR DO WE GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCEDURE AS FACTORY SO THERE FOR IF YOU KNOW YOUR BUSINESS YOU KNOW WHATS WHAT. but in regards to my question about tail gate badges i do appreciate your input and i thank you.

What I meant was did any Kingswood based sandmans get the kingswood badge? It seems to me the tailgate on Kruizs ute is a kingswood tailgate due to all the extra holes.

Also, badge holes are meaningless really, plenty of people put badges on to "upgrade" there utes/vans. My WB now has a 4.2 litre badge cause I like them. Its on the wrong side because WB had the Kingswood badge on the right hand side of the tailgate.

The other point would be the second most common repair to a Holden ute would be a re-skinned tailgate. Every second person either dropped the tailgate onto the tow ball or backed them into something. Badges could have easily been deleted or put on incorrectly by panel beaters.

Love the progress Kruiz...we could do everything but the panel work....(rather Rodney could) which seems to be the most time consuming....look forward to more pics.

Yes, that is what I meant. HQ was a Kingswood with XX7 option so it got Kingswood badges. Same reason HQ Belmont XX7 had Belmont badges and HJ Holden XX7/XU3 got HOLDEN badge. I can't remember if HJ Kingswood XX7/XU3 had a Kingswood badge on the body or not. HOLDEN and engine size badge was deleted on HX and HZ due to the graphics but you could option the engine size badge back again. HX and HZ also had the Holden grille badge deleted and got a Kingswood grille badge (Lion) as the HX and HZ Sandmans were basically a Kingswood.

sounds like you won't get a definitive answer on what a 1976 Kingswood XX7 sandman had on the tailgate. and with probably only 10 left, and the tailgate a common damaged thing may be best to

ring Andrew, 0417964070, he has a mint Julip 4/76 Dandy Sandman Kingswood ute the same as yours except L32 M20, and has owned it for 20 years. see what he can remember....

wasn't the yellow HJ ute in the sales brochures with the motorbike on the back a kingswood?, it had the kingswood pillar chrome strip anyway from memory......
