What age HJ? There are 3 x different carbies (excluding manual v auto) for HJ. Early, mid and late. Early is the same as late HQ. Mid HJ are the same carb manual or auto. Late are the same as HX.

3/75 HJ...same as HQ but with a cable connection not linkages like HQ.
I'm in NSW about 3 klm from the ACT border.

Do you know what casting/part number it should have on it? I've got carbies left right and centre but wouldn't know what they are off specifically.

The one I'm looking for would have a ball on the throttle shaft to take a cable...not just a hole for a linkage. It would also have the fuel delivery pipe go into the right hand front side of the carby....not centre front like HX etc.

As per my GMH HJ parts book a 5.0ltr manual carby is a 17050641 but I dont know if that is on the carby anywhere. (5.0ltr auto is part number 175050642.)

3/75 isn't the same as HQ. Once HJ got a canister late in 1974 the carby number changed, and it is the same carby for auto and manual. Manual has the vacuum advance connected to a ported vacuum port off a T-piece with the canister from memory, auto vac advance connects to the back of the carb (port has a rubber plug on the manual). I think the carby body number is 7045281. Earlier HJ manual without canister is 7043281 from memory again. I'll check when i'm home.
