    HR ute shooting wagon

This old ute ended its days here. Some blokes in town converted it to shooting wagon specs and drove it till it became too unreliable, where upon it became my circle work ute. They had removed the front ute floor so you could stand up and the roof rack was the gun rest. The rear support below the back window was hacked out so your knees didnt get bashed on it. It had a big rack right around the back that I cut off. The bucket seats in the back were a comfort addition (and when you sat in them during circle work it was bloody funny).
When I pulled the 161 out of it, my brother rebuilt it and it is now on a welder. I pulled about 10 welsh plugs out of the block, most were new and had been pushed in wrong and there they stayed.
My mate Mat who built the ute said they drove it about 40 kms back to town one night with no water in it after stacking it in a gully. The motor seemed to have no dramas at all after this and when we pulled it down it only had a cracked ring on one piston to show for 40 k's with no water! Try that in a modern engine
In the end the rear spring hangers smashed up through the floor due to rust.
You can see how the rear arches are cut out, this was because it had duals on the back. They were two rims welded together with the center cut out of the outside rim so you could put the nuts on. But..... you could not ever change the tyres cause you could not break the bead in the center of the two tyre
