answer is obvious. why do I own the top 3 HZ's? Because they where the best holden ever made. =P

WB ute is my favourite because they had all the modern updates such as tail lights, modern front, blue motors and the Kingswood had the big moldings up the side. I always hated the earlier side moldings as they looked like a left over from the HK/t/g parts bin.
As for GTS and Sandmans, well hard to compete when Holden got wimpy and deleted them. Hang on, funny how they deleted GTS and Sandman BUT kept building the WB Kingswood. That clearly shows that only the best survived into the 80's to take the battle to Ford.
All repeat after me, WB is clearly king!

Thats the first time I've heard a blue motor called "modern".:Chin: As per the shoutbox discussion yesterday about Torana's, WB is just like UC. They're the retarded younger sibling of otherwise great family's. People would look at them and go "Oh my god, what have we done. We better stop now before things get really out of hand." And so they did. The models were both ended right then and there.

Taking a wider view: the Kingswood name started in HK. But the base model WB, ie the HOLDEN, started in 1948 with the 48/215. Yes it dissapeared for a long time once the standard and special names appeared but made a comeback in HQ on the 1-tonner and then furthermore in HJ on the utes and vans. It dissapeared again at the end of WB (around January 1985) and made a comeback on the VG ute circa 1990, and it was still around until it got canned for the Omega name in VE.

Byron you mentioned before about a few WB utes that got 5 Litres. Have you seen one or the plates? I know there were a couple of one tonners. I also heard a rumour about the last 100 all being painted silver and getting 5 litres. Probably lust an urban myth though.

I've only ever personally seen a WB tonner with 308. It was a later one with L31 M40 GV4 ID plates, and T in the VIN. It was a yellow bench seat column shift car.

Dr Terry told me that his HZ BO6 L31 M41 got stolen during WB production and he tried to order a WB tonner with L31 but he could find no way to get one. He got his HZ back after a time, but a genuine WB ute in L31 turned up where he was working. HDT also did 2 x Magnum utes (1 x genuine, one done for a customer). I'm not sure if the genuine HDT one was a factory order or if it was an L36 M20 with HDT 308 put in.

U can all say what u want... i don't care.. i love my Mr Beigy.... he's mine... all mine, i own him, he owes me nothing (but a good time)... it comes down to individuality and availability at the time... i did have a HJ before him, but needed heaps of rust work etc etc... which got partly done... then Mr Beigy came along at the right price and swept me off my feet... what can i say.. if he hadn't come along and whispered sweet nothings in my ear.. i would still have the HJ. All in all, they are essentially the same, we just individualise to what we want... and isn't that what it's all about? I re-call someone even wrote a song about being an indi-bloody-vidual..... :Flower:
it's here and I love it!!
