DL7 guys! Stripes can go on later once someone does them again.
You are forgetting that no HQ and HJ Sandman left a GMH plant with stripes, and delete stripes in HX and HZ were pretty common in the late 70's.
Hi guys.
I have bought 2 lots from the adelaide sandman club. I bought my first set prob about 7 years ago and my blue set 3 or 4 years ago. Maybe... Not exactly sure. So i dont know if they still have them, but they were screen printed and well made. They had 20 sets of each colour done at the time. I bought these before Jason started doing them.
I dont know if they still have any or if this guy is still the contact. It was Tony - rogoth@adam.com.au
If not you could just try the van council of south australia (these stickers were with the decals) or see if there is still a sandman club.
I never really advertised that on here before out of respect for Jason and all his hard work, but now hes shut up shop i guess it does no harm and all the better to help keep getting the sandys back on the road! These guys did much the same thing with their decals and did a top job.
Here are pics of my two.

A Sandman must have stripes. It's all part of being a Sandman.
"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
Yeah, but they were almost the ONLY optional item for the package. On HQ-HX they were the only optional item (ie have them or not), everything else was mandatory with the packages (XU3 or XX7). Of course you could option different engines, gearboxes, paint, tyres etc. On HX they were the only FACTORY fitted item you could option Yes or No to (still chasing engine size badge info for HX). On HZ as well as the stripes you could also choose to option Yes or No to the engine size badge on the tailgate. So at the end of the day they are the least defining thing of a Sandman. Visually not so, but important to originality, defintely not. You can restore a Sandman and win concours at a show without stripes, but nothing else could be missing apart from the engine size badge on HZ. Just food for thought anyway.
