Bloody stupid if you ask me, I never had any issues with V8 manual Landcruisers in the 80's. I guess with the modern 5,6 and 7speed autos there will be soon no need for a manual and they'll gradually drop them altogether in some market segments. Even the GMH salesmen were telling me that the demand for manual SS utes (new and used) has dropped considerably since the 6spd autos were introduced.
Prado clutch has been good so far, touch wood. Hilux clutch sqeals every time you start off with a trailer on the back. Hiluxs are rubbish in every way. I ran over a rock getting firewood the other day, it bent the center bearing mount back so it hit the tailshaft bolts. However I think it has pushed the whole cross member up as the gearbox now squeaks against the floor and it has a massive vibration over about 1500 rpm. The rock I ran over I had been going over in my old 91 hilux and didnt even know it was there. These new utes are to low to the ground. They are a pretend 4wd not worth a pinch of manure (see I can write without swearing Blocker lol).
