Im a builder currently working as a building supervisor for a leading Sydney project home builder,
i was a trades assistant in a mining saftey equipment supply company (no name, and a real bad description actually)
but was asked about 5 or 6 weeks ago to go in the office and be a computer draftsman
so drawing , writing quality plans , instructions ,
don't know if its for me though, may go back on the floor
very much a jack of all trades master of none!!
sports administration
deck hand
landscaper
traveller - labourer (building, demolition and events) bar work, hostel staff, music shop etc etc
fish factory labourer
pathology lab assistant
gardener
studied cert 2 resources and infrastructure operations hoping to get into the mining sector but no luck as yet so now i am a concretor!
if anyone can help me crack the mining game would be much appreciated willing to move anywhere in australia tomorrow haha
cheers
EVEN THE YOUNG GIRLS LOVE SANDMANS!
ring remote area concrete, $60 / hour under ABN. they have about 10 years worth of concreting to do. concrete poured in the Pilbara costs $1000 / cubic meter.
if you don't mind being a drillers offsider, i could probably get you a start, but a 4 weeks on 2 off roster, clear about $1800 / week when working.
it would be great to have someone here that i could POWER talk to all day about holdens and get paid for it.

For a living ... I get to play with Harleys all day, I've been selling bits 'n' pieces for them for 30+ years now and still lovin it.
For pocket money (Sandman/Monaro funding) ... I go tiling with my son doing cashies on weekends.![]()
For no money ... hmmm strange how I always seem to end up working on mates cars for very little or no reward. :Chin:

I'm part time stay-at-home dad, part time jack-of-all-trades and fulltime collector of stuff.
The missus pays most of the bills with a highly paid government management job.
In the past have been a Service Manager at a motorcycle dealership, trades assistant in a panel shop and a Rental Car detailer/ supervisor.

worked as Agronomist (agricultural scientist) for over a decade recommending fertilisers , chemicals and varieties to farmers for Elders / Wesfarmers etc). Was a great job for finding old holdens.
But Agriculture can't compete with mining for $$
now work as a FIFO Mining environmental scientist North of Kalgoorlie.

I went to Orange Ag after I left school. Nearly finished and then went home to the farm. I did heaps of rousabouting and wool classing as well. Then went overseas and worked as drill helper in the oil fields in Canada. As a picker for Warner Bros in London for 3 days, then back to farm hand in the UK for 18 months.
Back to the farm, then took over managing it for the last 7 years.
I am currently chasing a mining job as well. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Love this thread, its very interesting to see what everyone does for a living.
