AHHH the old Build date plate v the Compliance plate date.

I have seen a Hyundai Excel with a March 1995 build date and a Jan 1996 compliance plate. It all depends on how long they sit on the docks for.
    BO6 = Rarer then a Sandman

I bought a honda XR400 new in 1996. It was a new model, newly released in Australia in 1996. Its build date was 1995. So it was built before they existed lol. Honda must have had a big stockpile ready in 95 ready for the 96 release.
There is also a dealer selling new YZ450's on the bay at the moment...... built in 2009. Will put a link up.
OK, not a YZ, but a crf250X, 2009, brand new.

    OK!
I know I said I was not going delve into providing evidence to prove or disprove any claims but I just couldn't help myself. I started looking and scoured Standards and legislation documents until I came full circle back to the document Ozbox provided and actually had a proper read of what this document actually states.Ozbox actually provided the document that disputes his claims. Here goes.

Firstly I'll touch on the legislation document I posted up about the process about "Change or replacement of vehicle part" to refresh your memory.
Here is the link to the clause......
    http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/fu...5-div.4-sec.68
As you can see, just as I posted earlier just a few routine house keeping chores.

This document now come into play

    "Motor Vehicle Compliance Plate" standard.

    Page 6 states....

Note: The compliance plate where fitted will be disregarded and the vehicle will be considered a
“vehicle without a compliance plate” if:
    • the identifying number on the compliance plate does not match the chassis number or the
vehicle identification number (VIN) stamped on the vehicle.

So the vehicle is now considered "vehicle without a compliance plate"

So we go to the vehicles with out compliance plate section.
    Clause 1

    1. Vehicles currently registered in NSW
A vehicle currently registered in NSW and not fitted with a compliance plate can continue to be
    registered providing it remains roadworthy.

As you can clearly see nowhere is an identity swap required. It simply states The vehicle can continue to be registered and the vehicle has no valid compliance plate.

It does go on with further sections relating to expired rego and rego from another state which just requires paper work and proof of owership etc but esentially the same thing. The Vehicle can be registerd in NSW.

I have provided 2 legal documents and have identified the clauses that state the process involved.
I believe this totally disputes the claims that OZbox made regarding identity inheritance and we can finally put this thing to bed.

All this stuff about identity inheritance is hearsay until someone can provide a current document that says different.

    Thank you all.

All identifying features on this sandman have been removed. Its definitely still a sandman, but probably not worth as much.

Those CRF's are old stock from other countries that were never sold. They've been bought cheap and imported but they have no ADR plate so they can't be registered. These guys have been selling bikes under false pretences for ages. They specialise in learner legal imports, but most of their uninformed customers who think they're buying a 2010 or 2011 bike don't realise it was built in the early 90's and complianced in Australia in 2011. They put aftermarket fairings on their street bikes that make them look a lot newer than they are and people pay stupid prices for them.
