In support of Ozbox's argument I've seen an "Overlander" conversion done on a Patrol chassis. The vehicle was registered as a Nissan Patrol, no mention of Holden at all.

i actually do not have an argument coz its fact so therefore no argument.:Tophat:.
education is what im doing here..educating the lurkers that read and dont post so they dont get caught paying big bucks for the wrong vehicle wether its a hq gts or a sandman...:(
all 2 t is doing is making it more interesting reading for the lurkers and educating them not to get caught out..
PG 13 the lurkers I say Oz ! If they don't want to contribute here then they get what they deserve in my world!![]()

Doesn't matter how much you educate people. A scammer will always be able to find a patsy if it looks like a great deal. Plenty of people still don't use the internet at all and wouldn't have a clue about how to find the right information.
I just want recap and clarify what it is I am trying to determine here.
Ozbox claims that once a chassis is changed the car looses its sandman title.
The logic used seems to be that a different chassis number brings with it a whole new identity.
I have been reading the NSW road transport regulation for quite a few hours and did not come here ill prepared. I have been over the Changing chassis/number section many times and nowhere is anything like this stated.
I am not trying to make a non matching number car sound more attractive than it should be. I simply take objection to the "complete loss of identity" bit and the way it has been used.
Perhaps there is another document that states different. Please Show it to me then we can all back talking about what bolts should I have holding my rocker covers on!
PS HQV6UTE, sorry for using your thread as a soap box but this needs to happen. When will we see some pictures?
Edit...

if it does not have a matching tag chassis number to chassis stamped number then it has mismatching numbers.
the numbers which are mismatching are the chassis number which then do not match the tags therefore taking with it from a collectible point the value of matching numbers..therefore no longer a matching number tag to chassis collectible.
the identity of any vehicle is the chassis number for registration purposes in any state of australia.this is a legal requirement for registration.
now i have typed this slowly and i would like everyone to read it slowly..
unfortunately it is a fact that the collectible vehicle is tarnished..
example..i owned a very rare and desireable black 4 speed vc brock commodore..had its correct tags..had its correct trim and wheels and numbered steering wheel .. but what it did have was police numbers on both engine and chassis...it was an absolute bitch to sell..half the price of what the market was because of police numbers..
as far as die hard brock owners were concerned it wasnt a brock.same thing with any collectible vehicle any where in the world.
