I wouldn't of thought this was too bad considering the origional paperwork and matching numbers.

Lot of hard work!
haha arnt they all. I have seen much worse HQ SS's sold that would conceavably require a rebody to have any hope. I thought this would be an rare example being totally matching numbers and not really a lot of rust to contend with. There wern't a lot of them to start with.
Definitly my next faverote HQ.. The poor man's GTS we used to call them.

PS.. its gotta be a better prospect than something like this.

"Low miles (25000) from car sitting since 82"
Why do all these sellers think their 5 digit odometers are all low mileage???? HQ... Clocked at least once.... Probably twice.
4/75 HJ XX7 Sandman Panelvan ... Persian Sand currently restoring
7/76 HX Monaro 4dr 308 4sp... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell.. SOLD
3/77 HX Sandman Panelvan ... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell .. SOLD
Actually there were a relatively large amount of them made (around 2800). Compare this to only hundreds of each of other collectable HQ's like GTS350, XW8 Kingswood, Sandman etc. And they'll never be worth good $ as they'll always be even to or less collectable than basic HQ GTS or XV4 Kingswood (both in 253 M20) and certainly less desirable than a 308 GTS or XV4. A real good survivor example would be nice to have, but I can't see a restored one being worth much more than a full resto cost. Unless you were really handy that particular one would cost you well over $25k to do to a reasonable resto, add that to your purchase cost and you may be way over-capitalised. Some people love these though!
Love the look of an SS though they look tough. Lettuce Alone I think was the green colour that they came out in,![]()
whats a XW8 Kingswood or XV4??
XV4 is the special vehicle package code for GTS which was optional on HQ V8 Kingwsood sedan. 308 also optional on this package. Basically the same deal as XX7 on a HQ commercial except XX7 was also available on 6cyl models and on both Belmont and Kingswood. XV4 was only optional on V8 Kingswood sedan.
XW8 is the same thing but with L30 engine (350).
XV2 is the special vehicle package code for the SS which was available on V8 Belmont sedan only.
never heard of any of those before, cheers, the codes that is
