Dud sensors or someone has sold you either the wrong oil pressure sensor or an oil sender for a light, rather than a gauge. They work in similar ways as each other (they both switch the power being supplied from the gauge to ground), however an oil pressure sender (light) will be grounded (ie: light "on") with no oil pressure and the oil pressure sensor will ground as the oil pressure increases - which lines up with what you are describing.

I know when I bought my oil sender unit they asked me what colour the needles were on my dash, the guy said they have different part numbers

Wow, that's cheap. People are usually asking minimum $400 and anywhere up to $600 for these.

Looks like you got lucky that no-one else saw it. Doesn't have Mambo in the title and it's in the transportation collectables category instead of 1:18 scale diecast. Nice pickup.

I have wanted one for a few years as well but same, not wanting to pay $400+. This one had a buy it now price of $190 and had been just listed. Don't think he knew what he had. Felt a bit guilty as he has not sold on EBay before, but people need to do their research.
